City centre led GP centre

The City Centre GP Led Health Centre is one of the new Equitable Access health services commissioned by NHS Manchester to bring additional GP services for a registered population who live within the City Centre and an unscheduled, ‘walk-in’, health service for anyone who needs treatment for minor illness or injury whilst working or visiting the city.

The health centre services will be provided by an organisation called GTD Primary Care. GTD Primary Care is a subsidiary of Go To Doc, a not for profit health organisation who have been providing out of hours GP services for a number of years in Tameside & Glossop and Oldham and more recently in Manchester. By February 2010 GTD Primary Care will be providing 12 new Equitable Access GP Practices and GP Led Health Centres.

The City Centre GP Led Health Centre will be open 8.00am to 8.00pm, 7 days each week, 365 days each year, including all Bank Holidays.

The clinical team comprises, Centre Manager, GP’s, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Reception staff.

A full range of GP services will be provided and will include weight management, chronic disease management, smoking cessation, health promotion and minor surgery.
The ‘walk-in’ services will provide care for minor illnesses and injuries, emergency prescriptions and emergency contraception.
